In 2014 the first video competition was carefully organized initiated by Klaudie Bartelink and Edward Snijders. It’s success was continued in 2015.
The 2nd Open Dutch underwater videography championships 2015 were scheduled for Sunday May 17th and Sunday May 31st 2015. These championships had just one category: a short film with a duration of 3-5 minutes. All footage had to be shot in the Oosterschelde, Grevelingen or Veerse Meer. Afterwards the participants were allowed to shoot a maximum of 25% of the footage outside the competition. Because it was an open competition also non-Dutch videographers were invited to participate. This year the group of participants included among others the 2014 World Champion Katja Kieslich (Germany) and 2014 Belgian Champion Jo de Smedt. This made this competition a contest with international stature!
During the award ceremony on September 18th 2015 my production ‘APHRODITE’ became the Dutch best video but ended just behind 2 Belgian and one German submitted films.
Out of curiosity I submitted the video to the 42th Festival mondial de l'image sous-marine in Marseille (France) and to my surprise it was selected for screening. Only 60 films were selected out of 130 submissions. As a result of that I was invited to present "APHRODITE" at the 8th Festival Sprehodi pod morjem in Konjice (Slovenia). This festival was held from January 28-30st 2016.
